ENTRY GUIDELINES
- Entry is open to young people aged 12-24 years as at 1 January 2025. The film must be your creative work and be recorded and edited by you or another qualifying young person.
- Entries can be from individuals, schools, youth agencies or a group of friends.
- People of any age may act and be recorded for your film.
- Your film can be no longer than 5 minutes.
- Your film must address the theme “CONNECTION”.
- Your film must be suitable for children and contain no swear words, sexual or violent content.
- Your film must not defame, misrepresent or disparage or otherwise have content which could adversely affect the name, reputation or goodwill of any third party.
- You or your legal guardian must be entitled to reproduce and exploit all underlying works in the film by including them in your film. Without limiting that concept, the requirements of clauses 9, 10 and 11 must be met.
- You or your legal guardian must be the owner or have permission from the owner, of the copyright in the sound recordings comprising the soundtrack of your film and the music and lyrics reproduced in those sound recordings.
- All the performers in your film must have consented in writing to the use of their performances in the film.
- Each contributor to the film or the underlying works in the film must have given written consent to their work being edited, altered and/or reproduced in any manner or context by you or your legal guardian or any person authorised by your or your legal guardian, including REELise Inc. They must also have authorised the use of their image and likeness in connection with any publicity for the REELise Film Festival.
- Title, credits and if relevant, school or community group are to be included in the film.
- The use of any copyright music, graphics and video must be acknowledged in the credits.
- By completing and submitting the Entry Form you and your legal guardian guarantee that the requirements of these entry guidelines have been satisfied. Without limiting that concept, you and your legal guardian provide the warranties and indemnities set out in clauses 15, 16, 17 and 18.
- Your age and the ages of other contributors to your film are correctly stated in the Entry Form.
- You or your legal guardian is aged 18 years or older on the date of submission of the Entry Form and is authorised and entitled to give the guarantees, warranties and indemnities and grant the rights and licences set out in these guidelines.
- Without limiting the generality of clause 16, your and your legal guardian warrant that you have obtained all necessary permissions and consents and your film and its use as contemplated by clause 24 will not infringe the rights including copyright of any third party.
- You and your legal guardian agree to indemnify REELIse Inc. from and against any and all claims and demands made against REELise Inc or any assignee or licensee of REELise Inc in relation to the guarantees and warranties provided by you and your legal guardian in clauses 14, 15, 16 and 17.
- Your film should be submitted via Vimeo or Dropbox. Upload in high definition and enable downloading. Vimeo recommend uploading mp4 files with h.264 compression and following the Vimeo Compression Guidelines. Vimeo basic subscriptions can’t share downloadable links. If you can’t afford to upgrade your subscription then submit your film by sharing a downloadable link via Dropbox. You must provide the relevant link to your film in the entry form
- Your entry (including the link to your uploaded film) must be received by no later than 5pm on 06 July 2025.
- Submissions must be work produced after 1 July 2024.
- Films will be judged and awarded under the categories of Best Junior Film, Best Intermediate Film, Best Senior Film and Best Pocket Film. In addition there will be a People’s Choice Award, REEL Change Award and Spirit of REELise Award. The competition will be judged by an independent panel of judges save for the People’s Choice Award which is awarded on the basis of viewer popularity and the Spirit of REELise and REEL Change Awards that are awarded by REELise Inc.
- Your prize must be claimed within one month of receiving notification of it or you will be deemed to have forfeited it. Any prizes awarded are not transferable, exchangeable or in the case of non-cash prizes, redeemable for cash. Any costs of travel to collect a prize are to the account of the prize winner and are not paid by REELise Inc. Experiential prizes do not include travel to and from the location of the work experience.
- Copyright for the submitted film remains the property of the filmmaker however in consideration of REELise reviewing your film for selection and/or selecting your film for screening, REELise Inc is granted a non-exclusive licence throughout the world indefinitely (whether or not the film is selected for the REELise Film Festival), to show the film to the public or to grant third parties permission to show the film to the public for purposes of exhibition, promotion and education by any means including, but not limited to, the internet, cable, satellite, television or cinema broadcast and any media yet to be devised.
- Each entry will receive a certificate of participation.
- Selection of the final program of films for screening at the REELise Film Festival and in the running for awards is at the discretion of the REELise Inc. All judging decisions are final.
